(Can quick travel to any of the areas instead of going in to area 1 and Warp Dancing to the next and next and next)💓 New Monsters, animations, food and Riskys bubble bath!💓 Quick and easy to use item switching compared to Shantaes transformations.💓 No need to grind 999 gems for shampoo, all items and health can be upgraded each for just 1 Dark Magic found.💓 Cristina Vee returns with more talented voices in game.ːshantae_annoyːCons💔 Little change in levels and nearly no changes in boss fights from main game route.💔 Upgrading Ammo Strap and Seeker will make nearly every boss a "stand in corner and spam".💔 Grappling Hooking to dangling rings sometimes causes Risky to get stuck.💔 Clicking your cancel button when choosing a World will be considered as a "Yes".💔 Artwork for finishing game a little too similar to one another apart from small edits.💔 Very limited interactions with her hub world being, well, her bathroom. Should I Buy It? ✔️I would recommend getting the game as playing as Risky Boots was a ton of fun and her hilarious dialouge made it worth it. However if it being too short annoys you and you want a bigger story, different bosses and Riskys moveset then I would recommend buying Shantae and the Pirates Curse instead.. Actually unbeatable for me right now because the game keeps crashing in the final stage. But on top of that you fight the same bosses through the same levels as Risky with minor changes to the levels to make them beatable with her moveset. Unfortunately Wayforward made the boneheaded decision to make the levels beatable in any order which means other than the last level which I can't even play due to crashes you barely even have opportunity to use her unique moveset because the levels are all completable without her extra moves. Very disappointed with this especially since I really like the base game.. This dlc was great, i bought it even though people said that its too expensive for the replay of the game. But in the end it was pretty awesome to play risky i think you should buy it if you have money to spare or just a hardcore fan. Pirate' Queen's Quest is a decent but flawed DLC. It's fun and I do recommend playing it, but with its current $10 asking price, it's up in the air whether or not you'll find it worth your purchase. You play as Risky Boots, the villain of the Shantae series. Instead of magic, Risky relies on her weapons and tools. If you've played Pirate's Curse, you're familiar with the concept behind Risky's weaponry; instead of having to transform into monkeys and elephants to platform/fight/complete puzzles, you do everything with your pistol, cannon, and parachute hat, all of which can be used in tandem. Like in Pirate's Curse, Risky's equipment is satisfying to use, giving the gameplay a fluidity that other Shantae games lack. However, unlike Pirate's Curse, or indeed any other Shantae game, your power-ups rarely have a chance to shine because of the level design. The level design in Pirate Queen's Quest is arguably some of the worst in the entire series, for one big reason; none of the levels were designed with your equipment in mind. If you've played previous Shantae games, you may remember sections specially designed for things like Shantae's monkey transformation, or her cannon power-up, or her dash ability. These sections were the meat of Shantae's gameplay, because they challenged the player to put their new abilities to good use. Outside of the final level (and the occasional hidden-away chest), these sections don't exist in Pirate Queen's Quest. You have a cannon that lets you quadruple-jump, but no jumps which challenge you to use that cannon skillfully. You have a grappling hook that lets you navigate upside-down, but virtually no puzzles which require its usage. The pistol is the only weapon that's satisfyingly implemented into gameplay, being the piece of equipment you start the game with. All of this can perhaps be blamed on one of the more baffling design decisions made for this game; in lieu of the more traditional Shantae progression, where your abilities allow you to access new areas (or new areas unlock for you after beating a boss), you can immediately visit any of the 5 main levels from the very start of Pirate Queen's Quest. On paper, that sounds like a really cool idea! You can go wherever you want, challenge yourself in the first 2 minutes of gameplay! However, to accommodate this freedom, every level consequentially had to be designed in such a way that it could be beaten by a player with no equipment. That means no levels where you glide over pits with your hat, or cannon-jump over spikes, or do anything as challenging and cool as the stuff you did in Pirate's Curse, In fact, most levels only have the most barebones of alterations. The final level (and boss) was great, mostly as a byproduct of being designed for a player who has all their power-ups... if the entire game was designed like that, I'd be a lot happier with Pirate Queen's Quest. As someone who was already familiar with the layout of most of the levels, I breezed through this DLC in 2.4 hours, getting 100% along the way.If you're expecting "Pirate's Curse 2" from this, you're going to be disappointed. That said, I had fun barging through Sequin Land as Risky Boots, and maybe you will too.. A really fun side story that I have no regrets in buying. Sure it uses the same locations as the base game, but the abilities are all completely different and the puzzles chaged to account for them. Making old locations feel new.. I finally got to play one of the infamous Shantae's Half Genie Hero DLCs! After playing Shantae and the Pirate's Curse I was really curious how risky would play in her own game, given that toolkit allowed by her weapons was pretty great! And I liked her as character!.......But... not like this... Pros: Risky is finally playable, and her toolkit is great and nice to use! The game at first makes a decent challenge with interesting enemies placement and freedom of choice of where to go first...Cons: ...but the challenge is quickly lost. It quickly becomes apparent that the stages were not designed with Risky's toolkit in mind, thanks to which most of the challenges are quickly effortlessly skippable with upgraded hat. Recycling.... Almost everything is recycled. Stages are basically the same as in orignal game, with very minor modifications - mostly enemy placements or small adjustments to make for that fact that Risky do not have certian Shantae's ability. Even almost all bosses are recycled! if it wasn't enough, Last boss, the only original one, is almost a copy of a boss from a previous installment too... The story is barebones - it could be described in maybe 10 sentences....? Which is a large disappointment. I hoped for more interesting PoV of Risky, especially given that she got something of a depth in her character development after Pirate's Curse game. The DLC is too short. I fully completed the game (as in all achievements) in around 2 and a half hour, without using any guide.... I wouldn't mind this if it was something fresh and original, but given how much of the game is recycled, I find this unacceptable. I do not expect brand new second Shantae game with Risky as protagonist, but I'd much rather get smaller piece of fresh content, like, one or two larger stages that could be completed in an hour, hour and a half, that are completely new and suited for RIsky, than having not only a short game, but made of only recycled and unoriginal content...With that being said, if I had to give number score to this DLC, it would be 4/10. Technically the game is okay. It's not the worst game ever, and there aren't any major bugs. But.... the fun also isn't really there. Stages aren't made with Risky's toolkit in mind, and it quickly shows, with how easily the upgraded hat makes most of the obstacles easily skippable. Playing this DLC makes me wonder, what is the fuss about Ultimate Edition - this DLC is pretty bland and bad, and reading reviews for the other two, it doesn't seem that they are any better. I really don't think content like this is really worth arguing over. I personally believe that it's product that, unlike original Half-Genie Hero game, is not a labour of love, but labour of necessity (aka promises for reaching certain kickstarter goals). This DLC should have been named "Risky - Character Pack", because that's honestly what it is. New character, new toolkit, but basically no new content.. First of all I bought the DLC for 10$Was Disappointed of this DLC becuase:1. It is a rehash of Half Genie Hero.2. The Levels are ALL the same. They even have most of the time the same layout. ( Some level have changed to make the platforming different for Risky)3. The Boss Fights are ALL the same except the last one.4. I needed 2 Hours to finish the game with 73% completion. ( 3 hours and i would have completed it)5. The Game like Half Genie Hero is WAY to easy... Even the Hardcore mode was a joke in the original Game.6. Item Balancing is broken in this game. If you upgrade the sword only 3 times, you will destroy the game easily. So in conclusion, i do not Recommand this game. At least not for 10$. Wait for a Steam sale to drop to at least 5$.Wayforward delivered to little here.If you are a die Hard Shantae lover like i am ( completed all the games / all achievments) you will get this game anyway. If not stay away for now.. It's almost the same maps with minor change of quest and monster. No dancing or shaking boobies (lol). Very short story telling. It likes playing Shantae with alternative mode. I don't recommend if you're looking for more challenge from this DLC for almost the same price of main game. It's OK to buy for cheer developer up, and It's still fun.. Read the negative reviews and I got to say they are harsh but fair. The content added by this DLC is certainly over priced. Apart from the price though is it is refreshing and fun so for now just save you're money and wait for this to go on sale.
